Part of the fun of traveling for me is the opportunity to try so many different foods. I wrote about it in my bio but in case you didn't read it...everytime I travel to a new country, I bring home a local cookbook. I have an entire shelf filled with cookbooks from Iceland, South Africa, Argentina, and Nova Scotia just to name a few. I also make sure to stop off at a market or grocery store when I'm in a new country. I feel like I get to know the culture a little bit better through their food.
However, you don't have to travel to faraway lands to try new foods. I'm always surprised at the farmer's market by fruits and vegetables I've never seen before. My most recent trip to the gourmet market not far from my house presented me with unknown fruits. Whose ever seen a Budda's Hand Citron before? Certainly not me. And Dragonfruit??? Yes, I've seen the Dragonfruit flavored Vitamin Water, but I never really took the time to even consider what it was.
So my point is...get creative in the kitchen. Try not to be scared of trying new things. Look for new food and recipes. It's fun and keeps cooking interesting.
